The Stage @ Lincoln Center
Korean designer Son Jung Wan made her New York debut in a show filled with her fans, closest friends and family (who flew in specially fro the event) and some major locals who wanted to see what she was all about. Her name is big in Korea; she´s won several awards, shown in many Seoul fashion weeks and already has a strong business in the East. After this show, it is safe to say that she´ll definitely have plenty of followers in the West as well.
Amazing looking fabrics ranged from heavy tweeds with raw unfinished edges to sequin laces and pleated silks. Everything looked feminine and offered a great range of separates as well as dresses and outerwear. The combination of fur with sequins was a strong look for Wan. The collection had a Hollywood glam feel and made it lighter bringing this expensive material to the new century. None of her fur pieces could be confused with a vintage buy, it was all very nicely balanced and the detail of adding glitz and shine to our furry friends was delightful. A silver beaded peak–a–boo fox trimmed dress together with a raccoon sequined poncho wore over a metallic pant was a huge hightlight.
