The first show of the evening got off to a late start. A to-capacity crowd turned up for Benny Roset’s latest collection. It was Sunday night, but this is Miami, the land of the 24/7 party. The pre-show disco music gave the seating process and inevitable wait a festive atmosphere and I settled back into Miami mode.
Flipping through the run of show on my seat, I thought back to my time earlier in the day with Gottex designer, Molly Grad. She’s a woman who makes suits for women to wear and enjoy. By the time the third look had come down the runway, I concluded that Benny’s a designer who makes suits that are meant for men to enjoy.
Midway through, I revised my initial opinion. Yes, the suits are obvious and full-on leopard is a stripper staple but there’s something more here. I’ll call it “the Gisele factor”. In fact, there was a model that looked a bit like the SuperModel who helped to change my mind and appreciate this collection. The highly textured hair that lead stylist lead stylist, Dean Banowetz, created with his new Instyler rotating hot iron tool exactly replicated that sexy undone hair you get after a day at the beach – only better.
Cia Maritima is a collection that celebrates Brazilian beauties and their infectious self-confidence. The women who will eventually buy and wear these suits are honorary Brazilians. They are not afraid to wear an aqua tanga string bikini paired with a leopard top piped in hot pink. They enjoy showing off their assets and these swim suits are just the right ones to show-off every curve.
