The Stage @ Lincoln Center
As the lights came up on the Carlos Miele Spring 2012 collection runway, three models emerged in unison wearing strikingly graphic chiffon caftans, each with a different coloration of a giant, oversized pattern resembling marbleized stationery. The effect was visually impactful & set the tone for a collection that was all about retro glamour & easy formality. This collection would be perfectly at home entertaining formally at home or on board a yacht in the Mediterranean. The colors were Orange, Teal, Turquoise & Gold, set off against a White base or ground color. Gold was mostly used as accents or ornamentations like belts or sequins used to provide focal interest around a neckline. While Mr. Miele is largely overlooked by the red carpet set, it isn’t due to the quality of his designs. These pieces are as deserving of the spotlight as those far more familiar bold faced choices.
