Orchestral music accompanied Songzio’s Summer 2013 collection which had an airiness in its color story and silhouettes that blew through the room like a breeze. A design aesthetic that mixes eastern and western, reflecting the cross-culture way that we dress, his rectangular shapes in outerwear had an 80s vibe and Mediterranean ease.
In shades of blue and lots of white, oversized knits and boxy outerwear topped full, wide leg pants and knee length shorts. The pants were draped with a pleat folding back on the waistband adding movement and extra volume up top to still achieve a tapered effect while maintaining the wide leg. Jackets with loop and frog closures added an eastern flare to light linen jackets. Cotton and linen, some slightly transparent, made the layers even more appealing for a hot summer day.
Shirts with box pleats down the back and double breasted jackets closed up, collarless, emphasized the rectangular solidity of the upper body, while the knits did just the opposite, tanks and square tees hanging low and away from the body. To finish off the look, white espadrilles were the perfect accent for this breezy summer collection.
