Once more, New York is about to fall under the spell of Fashion Week, and no one is better prepared than Christina Neault. As executive producer of IMG fashion she is one very, busy lady.Aside from overseeing the production of the New York shows she also oversees the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami, which launched in 2004 and has become one of the most important platforms for the swimwear industry. Christina’s job gets her involved in all aspects of these events, from the actual construction of the physical complex to the execution and production of the 250+ shows that take place every year. I met her back when the shows were still taking place in Bryant Park on 42nd Street. I always remember her calm demeanor among the fashion chaos that shows inevitably bring and always felt that it was such a welcome relief from the unnecessary drama some individuals thrive on in order to appear important. Her grace under pressure attitude is something certain event planners and current fashion insiders could benefit to learn from! In the past couple of years I feel fortunate to have gotten to know her a little bit better in her capacity as Chair of the advisory board of the High School of Fashion Industries on which I also sit. I cannot think of a better person for this job, which is why it was a no-brainer to unanimously re-elect her. Her energy and dedication to the school are endless and she is a real inspiration. Her involvement has been crucial to help the school and its annual benefit gain more recognition within the industry, a key factor for the students who, for the most part, are going to need a scholarship to go to college. I just caught up with Christina as she recently returned from Miami Swim Week and was so excited that she agreed to do this interview just as she is now embarking on the preparations for New York Fashion Week.

1. What do you love most about your job?
I get to work with a wide range of people on a wide range of projects. From the crew who builds the runway, the electricians, the tech staff, to the volunteers, it’s like a big family! There is never a dull moment.
2. If you did not live in Manhattan where would you live and why?
I would live in either San Francisco or London. I find both cities to be friendly, choc full of culture and easy to walk around.
3. When not working what do you enjoy doing?
I’m always working but I enjoy reading, cooking and volunteering my time as chair of the High School of Fashion Industries.
4. What is your best memory from childhood?
Long summer days. Hours spent in the pool. Playing kick ball and doing cartwheels down the hill.
5. What is your favorite holiday destination and why?
Anywhere with a beach really but at the moment Turks & Caicos is my favorite.
6. Book or e-reader? Why and what are you currently reading?
I am definitely a book reader. I love the medium and enjoy flipping through the pages. I am currently reading Keith Richards’ biography “Life”
7. Which social media platform do you use and how did they impact your business?
At IMG we use them all: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram. They really are a good way for the general public to get an insight into fashion events and the fashion industry in general.
8. What is a true luxury for you today?
Spending time and breaking bread with friends and family.
9. What is your biggest accomplishment to date? Why?
Every successful event is a bigger accomplishment than the last one.
