Daisy Fuentes has helped define the perception of Latina beauty. Long before there were any prominent young Latin women on American television, there was Daisy Fuentes. Fuentes is the rare combination of All American and Latina.
Daisy Fuentes instantly became a household name years ago, and is a role model for women. She used her name as a springboard to launch a fashion line for KOHL’S Department stores in 2004. She continues to have an on-air presence, but Daisy has now become an American lifestyle brand, which includes sportswear, intimates,
accessories, handbags, swim wear, shoes, sunglasses, prescription eyewear, home bedding, multiple fragrances and she is launching a line of wigs and hair pieces through LUXHAIR. Fuentes began as a model in 1985 and started her TV career one year later as a weather anchor in NY. Daisy has proven her staying power and longevity in entertainment by steadily working in the industry for over 22 years. Due to her heritage and education, she can effortlessly work in Spanish and English with an amazing ease. It was for this reason that Daisy became the first VJ to be signed to both MTV U.S. and MTV Latino, launching her as a TV star internationally. Just as Daisy was becoming increasingly popular with the MTV audience, cosmetics giant Revlon came calling, signing Daisy to a multi year, worldwide contract as a spokesperson along supermodels Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer, another first for a Latina personality.
Daisy’s effortless presence in front of the camera and entrepreneurial skills have proven that she is more than just one of People Magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful. As a balance and contribution, Fuentes states that “it is a privilege having a voice to bring attention to causes I believe in.” One cause close to her heart is in helping to raise funds and awareness for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Since visiting the hospital in 1998, Fuentes vowed to “do anything I can to let everyone know about the life saving miracles that come from the hospital.” Fuentes has been the celebrity chairman for the annual St. Jude Angeles & Stars gala in Miami since it’s debut in Miami more than 5 years ago, raising millions of dollars for this truly inspiring organization. Fuentes has also worked with many breast cancer awareness causes such as the Revlon / UCLA Women’s Breast Cancer Research program.
Daisy Fuentes was born in Havana, Cuba, lived in Madrid, Spain from age 3 to 8, grew up in New Jersey and currently resides in Los Angeles.
