Prints on prints on prints! – Hidden inside a small white walled studio on the lower east side, designers Alia and Jami Juma presented a collection that made the bland white walls disappear. Known for their vibrant use of color and ethnic inspiration, Juma’s spring ’13 collection offered a kaleidoscope of color and vivid bold prints. The silhouettes consisted of beautiful draping in light silks, giving the collection an ethereal feel. Dresses were hung brilliantly, unexpectedly opting out of the Grecian goddess, and exuding a downtown chic. Projected on the wall was a video of dreamy scenes of nature, which meshed well with the organic theme of the prints (which consisted of birds of paradise, tropical flowers and even some panda bears made an appearance in this tropical garden party). The styling was simple, with models wearing chic patterned turbans and headscarves, clean fresh faces with nude lips and completing the look with black and tan boots. Juma definitely is the go to for the woman who is not afraid to stand out.
