As we all prepare to hit the runways for 10 grueling days known world-wide by the following 4 letters: NYFW, we couldn’t help but think… “does any of this matter beyond the small inner circle of those who actually attend shows each season?” Asking around, we were told by one particular Fashion PR house that indeed NYFW does have impact in places beyond the inner circle. Enter their client: L’Atelier Rouge
L’Atelier Rouge is a floral design house located just steps off the Chelsea floral market in the 20′s. Led by French owner Caroline Bailly, who earned her high-end cred in the hallowed halls of some of the finest hospitality schools & restaurants on both sides of the ocean (Daniel Boulud, Geoffrey Zakarian & Olivier Guigni). Her work with Guigni led her to the world of florals, where she finally felt grounded. In 2010, she launched L’Atelier Rouge.
Along side her for the fanciful, strikingly beautiful ride is her in-house floral designer Takaya Sato, who oversees the creations under the L’Atelier Rouge studio in his role as Creative Director/Head of Floral Design.
Caroline tells us that fashion does indeed influence the design process. In fact, she asserts “very much so. Floral patterns, textures, & collection color palettes are a constant source of inspiration for us.”
She herself looks to designers Jeffrey Kane, Gucci, Dior & Karl Lagerfeld in particular for her inspiration. ”The paper flowers & colorful jungles from a few years back for Chanel were amazing!” says Bailly. What’s she looking forward to seeing this season? ”Raf Simons, of course.”
“I’m almost certain that we will see this season’s colors transpiring into floral & event design overall within the next 6 months,” says Bailly. We can’t wait!
So, as the fashion fatigue of the week sets upon you… probably sometime around the 9th or 10th, give L’Atelier Rouge a call & say “send me a trend!” See what happens… you won’t be disappointed.
