Parisian insider designer Basil Soda was in a painterly mood for Pre-Fall 2014 when he combined his house’s trademark lux sense of fabrication with the light touch of an artists brush. The atelier describes the feeling as an “experimental” take on the house’s DNA. The collection was further updated with an uncharacteristic abundance of separates appearing in place of the gowns with which the house is synonymous.
While the majority of the collection was in the dark neutral range, the real action came in a few pops of nearly electric bright Green & a Plum/Fuschia, both of which left indelible impressions. The colors were just enough to create fashion volume without compromising the brands principles. We stand anxiously ready to see what’s to come next season from this designer that we believe has just begun to make the impression that is to come.
