Bahrain based designing cousins, Noor Khalifa & Haya Khalifa, looked to the Arabian Desert for inspiration on the season & they interpreted the abstract landscapes they saw into a series of graphic patterns as simple a polka dots & as complex as bold patterns resembling stripes from a distance. Throw in some sequins to add a requisite pop of shine & some inventive plays on layering & proportion to create volume & the result is a collection that is sure to leave an impression with fans & build a new base in the process.
The collection is also rife with unexpected details like unorthodox combinations of fabrics like heavy crepe set off against sheer organza as well as leathers being used with felt as well as touch of the season’s go to fabrication of neoprene. All of these disparate combinations of fabrics were brought together seamlessly by a color palette born from the brilliantly pigmented desert-scapes that manifest at dusk & dawn- Navy, Camel, Coral, Burnt Orange, & Black.
While so much fashion from this region is so tied to the local flavor that it can appear more costume than Western “fashion”, this collection falls into no such trap. Noon by Noor is perfectly positioned for this market in that all of its local Middle Eastern flavor serves to evoke a feeling of inspired novelty that any woman, on any continent would feel comfortable wearing.
