Antwerp based design duo Viktor Horsting & Rolf Snoeren debuted their entire collection of bridal wear, their first foray into the Bridal realm, under the name “Mariage”. The collection, done in conjunction with bridal powerhouse Justin Alexander was first reported on TheFashionList with this article.
The collection, shown entirely in White, is chock full of signature looks of Horsting & Snoeren. So much so that it almost seems like a retrospective in White. The giant bows, reminiscent of the “Flower Bomb” show, as well as the asymmetrical cuts, the multi-tiered cascades of pleats, the clean sharp lines of the jumpsuit bridal suit… all were strongly referential yet simultaneoiusly fresh & new.
The collection, in fact was so clean, so spare, so thoughtfully executed, that this is the only collection we’ve ever seen that truly embodies the needs of the new, modern bride. Yes, this collection is a modern bridal collection for today’s modern bride. A young bride will see the collection as edgy & architectural. The older bride will see the collection as vintage inspired & somehow familiar. Both are correct.
After sitting through bridal week twice a year for some 6 years now, this observer is beside himself with accolades for this collection as it is the first we’ve seen in a very long time that truly stood out, was wholly modern, & intriguing in every sense. We only hope they come to the US bridal runways… we’ll be there with bells on… wedding bells!
