Designer, model, stylist, dancer Julian Woodhouse showed his latest collection for Fall 2016 at Chelsea Piers, the venue of choice for New York’s burgeoning “young designer” set. Part tribal, part 1980′s, part futuristic, the designer reinterpreted a range of basics in the men’s activewear market to arrive at an overall look that seems somehow timeless in a streetwear sort of way.
The casting was every bit a contributing factor to the overall success of the collection as the designs themselves, as the models ran the gamut from pretty boy fashion types, to the tortured (albeit all put-on) hipster, to the carefree skater boy. Regardless the character in question, each looked completely at ease in the Woodhouse collection being shown.
The screen print tops, in particular the one with the Warhol-esque graphic from the invite, were the stand-outs or sure. On his Instagram profile, Mr. Woodhouse says he’s currently living in Korea. Judging from the vibe of the show he staged for Fall 2016, it’s an address that agrees with him & has sparked his creative psyche as the collection truly jumped onto the runways &, as this observer predicts, into the closets of fans everywhere the moment the pieces reach retailers.
