Bridal newcomer Alexandra Grecco set chose the Flatiron District‘s NoMad Hotel for the presentation of her debut collection for Spring 2018. The setting, high atop the roof amongst the domed spires with gardens of sea grass & urban skyline vistas proved to be the perfect setting for a near perfect collection.
The collection of romantic, vintage feeling gowns exuded an overall younger vibe, but with a definite nod to the 1920′s. Not the 1920′s of the Flapper but rather the 1920′s of the Gatsby Estate on Long Island’s iconic Gold Coast. Plunging necklines, Ostrich feather trim, Swiss Dotted tulles with tone on tone floral embroidery that evoked Dior in his heyday. There was so much to look as, so much to take in, so much to document! It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a bridal collection this exciting, shown with this degree of detail. From the stunning gowns to the delightful bite sized macaroons & flutes of bubbly… not a single box was left unchecked.
To quote from a WWD review once given to Isaac Mizrahi & documented in Doug Keeve’s in the closing moments of his legendary film “Unzipped”, “By & large, (s)he’s got a hit on his(her) hands!” No truer words can be written in this case.
