Hollywood sirens of the 1930s & thoughts of a slower day came to mind with this incredible collection of loungey sportswear & a finale of gowns in rich colored elegance. Fabrics dripping like paint on a canvas were hanging from shoulders, limbs, & falling to the floor with a soft cascading ripple effect. Each glamor girl, comfortably languid in her garment, strolled front & center with the assistance of an usherette, who, acting as a chaperone for each debutante, accompanied her to center stage, styled each outfit, guided her towards the photographers, and finally walked her back off stage to present the next beauty.
A classic color palette of predominantly Black, White, Gold & a few Neutrals ended in a 4 piece explosion of Jewel Tones. Touches of militaria were added in epaulets, a double breasted 3/4 trench coat with a low Revere collar, & an ensemble in Olive Green (one of my favorites!). The small additions, along with the use of various silks in finishing of Charmeuse, Satin, Lame, kept the overall collection feeling very sensual & feminine.
This was a modern day look that recalled those wonderful days when men & women dressed up, rather than down, for their evenings out.
