Noon by Noor, the Bahrain based house designed by Shaikha Noor Al Khalifa & Shaikha Haya Al Khalifa consistently delivers their fashion message each season in a manner best described as quietly confident. Their music choice, casting & styling decisions, even their venue decor is never too bold, never too loud, & never in your face the way some collections are, yet the fashion punch felt by those in the audience never fails to make one take notice. Fall 2016 was no different. In fact, the fashion punch was stronger than any season in recent past.
As has become as signature a part of the house as their style of presentation is their seeming obsession with proportion & the play between divergent sizes of details - small details on boxy shapes, delicate fabrics cut to look heavy, minutely textured fabrics in giant oversized garments, oversized patterns in gossamer light fabrications - all were seen in abundance at this showing to wonderful result.
The real news was the coats. They were large & masculine in styling, yet cut in a manner that left no doubt a woman was beneath. The overcoat crescendo was witnessed in the latter portions of the show when a rich Caramel melton “Teddy” coat cut to resemble a bathrobe akin to a silhouette gracing the likes of Katharine Hepburn in her Hollywood hey day. Those around me all commented, pointed, circled, photographed, etc…. whatever it took to remember it for future reference. Other standouts were in Black formal fabrications, sheered fur, Winter White Trenches, & the list goes on, each bettering the ones that had walked the runway before.
This collection was a stunner & deserves every ounce of support it receives. As I looked back at the photos posted below, it was evident that as good as it looks in the images, the images themselves don’t do the collection justice. For full impact, Noon by Noor needs to be experienced first hand. Today’s fashionable women want to be the star & not take second position to a garment. The quiet subtlety that is beneath every stitch of this collection would serve to accentuate & complement the wearer, making Noon by Noor quintessentially modern & of the moment.
