Cool drinks, warm sun, & long Cuban cigars are what comes to mind when one sees the latest collection by menswear designer David Hart. Hart is known for his classic aesthetic with a modern flare, but this season he has outdone himself!
The tone is set in the room by Becks “Tropicalia” playing in the background. The weather is already warm & sunny outside, & Hart has invited it indoors, at Dune studios, with his linen suit & fedora clad models in an array of bold colors including Oranges, Reds, Greens & Blues, each evoking a memory of a tropical destination in every observer’s mind. There was also a boldly striped blazer reminiscent of the cafe awning offering a respite from the sun on a side street cafe. The easy going vibe of the inspirational location could be felt in the approach to silhouettes which were unstructured, yet proper. His trousers were pleated & flowing to further the overall feeling of ease.
For the feet, Hart chose (what else, but?) sandals & espadrilles to make it clear to anyone who sees his collection that he’s in a relaxed mood for Spring 2018. If this collection is any indication of what next summer will be like for David Hart, I think it’s safe to say, his summer is looking bright!
