If you are walking down the street & happen to see a pair of glistening gold metallic shoe laces on the feet of a youngster, it’s likely not a fashion trend that you missed, but rather a show of support for a cause that we believe you will find a 100%, unquestionable, universal show of support, no matter the person you ask. Finding such support around a single issue is certainly no small feat in today’s polarized world, however, we believe you’ll all agree, in this case, we’ve done the impossible. The cause at hand is kids cancer & the the month of September is the national month of awareness around children suffering from this horrible plight.
The organization behind the Gold Lace initiative is Solving Kids’ Cancer & they’ve coined the campaign “Lace Up For Kids”. The organization, whose name is its mission, is sending out the gold laces to various schools, sports teams & youth organizations across the country. Participants are being asked to Lace Up For Kids & share their show of support on their social media channels under the hashtags #LaceUpForKids, #CareWearShare & #GoGold.
“By wearing gold shoelaces in September & sharing the results on their social media platforms, kids are sending the message that childhood cancer research needs to be a priority,” stated Scott Kennedy, Executive Director, Solving Kids’ Cancer. ”Children fighting all types of cancer need new treatment options itch the postnatal to cure their disease. Hopefully, increased awareness will lead to more funding to make those options a reality. Cancer remains the number one cause of deaths by disease among children in the US. Solving Kids’ Cancer wants to change that, because every child deserves to grow up.”
Wow… need we say more?
