Eleven was the magic number at Jenny Lee – every one of the eleven gowns was a delight. Better still, the West Hollywood based designer gave us a private showing as the photographer shot the look book.
Said Ms. Lee, “I use all-white lace over color; a colored dress enhances your figure. Modern brides are fashion forward but they still want to be elegant.”
The designer was referring to an off the shoulder A-line silk radzmir gown and to a one shoulder fit and flare gown, both constructed from aqua blue organza. The tulle and embroidered lace overlays muted the aqua color to a delicate robin’s egg blue.
Many gowns this season presented a notable back view, the off the shoulder gown had a striking white organza train attached to the v-back that looked romantic, yet modern.
For the bolder bride, there’s a black midi-dress fashioned from organza with a petaled black tulle overlay.
The remaining gowns stayed in the more traditional bridal tones: sand, nude, white, champagne and ivory. The creamy organza and Alencon lace A-line gown with an attached lace bolero possessed the same romantic quality as the unforgettable dress Helen Rose of MGM designed for Grace Kelly’s 1956 marriage to Prince Rainer III.
Ms. Lee’s model also bore a passing resemblance to the Princess on her wedding day. The blonde model showed off the exquisite gowns to best effect, as she knew exactly how to pose to show off the dresses’ unique features from the most flattering angles.
This tightly collection was well worth the trip crosstown and then some.
