Zang Toi has been a familiar face in New York’s fashion industry for quite some time even though he’s become more recognizable for his cameos on The Real Housewives series. With a front row consisting of current former Housewives, Toi presented “Glamour at Gstaad,” a collection that “showcases exquisite craftsmanship via luxurious fabrics and fine tailoring,” according to the notes.
It can’t be denied that Toi is a talented designer. His opening pieces, which were far sportier than Toi is known for, were divine. His white furs screamed decadence even when presented on men. Toi’s structured pieces like the wool and angora trouser suit with a sculpted mink collar and his tailored pieces like the black cashmere suits for men and women, were so perfectly executed. The exposed seam on the black suits gave Toi’s collection an often-needed modern twist.
Toi regressed to his over the top antics with his finale gowns, which were a mish-mosh of color, detail, and technique. We know Toi is talented; we don’t have to see all of his talents in one piece.
