Ziad Nakad looked to architecture & geometry to find inspiration for his Fall 2019 Couture collection. He took it one step further & added the intricacies of ancient mosaic imagery to finish his collection of 56 looks that walked the runway.
His silhouettes were decidedly narrow at the waist with exaggerated volume in the skirts & sleeves of his gowns with the pants being more column-like with the volume coming in oversized kaftan like coats that not only pumped up the volume, but decidedly pumped of the drama.
The collection turned the traditional color story on end & opened with some very strong Red dresses that gave way to a range of Nudes that were the very definition of stunning. Blue entered the palette before transitioning to Black to end on a White wedding gown the like of which haven’t walked the couture runway since the days of old.
The dramatic proportions & striking colors, as well as the uber polished setting left no doubt that this is a designer who understands the traditions of the genre, but has the commendable ability to deliver every bit a Couture collection as the greats in the field. Bravo!
