Loving this designer right now. In her second season showing at New York Fashion Week, Choonmoo Park has exposed American editors to just why she has been so popular & at the forefront of the Korean avant garde designs for over 20 years. Her insanely edgy, but wearable designs are fun & figure flattering with an artistic sensibility derived from couture roots translated into ready-to-wear.
This season Choonmoo was inspired by the nature of air & how it manifests, her interpretation in the purity & light of her garments & very on trend with translucent fabrics. Her versatile collection of separates in white, beige, silver, & shades of blue are perfect for layering in any season & her craftsmanship is apparent with her fusing of princess seams, zippers & hook&eye finishes. But it is the unusual draping & high quality of fabrics that keep looks sophisticated & feminine. This collection & name that is still new to us stateside will soon be high in demand among fashion insiders similar to that of the genius behind Comme de Garcon, it is only a matter of time & proven endurance.
