Nelle Atelier, the fashion world’s go to for denim if you are under 5’4″ in verticality… by the way, 50% of American women are under this height… has announced its first venture beyond the confines of jeans with the launch of a ready-to-wear capsule. The capsule, consisting of 3 pieces, melds beautifully with the jeans that have been the company’s touchstone since Madeleine Cohen founded the company out of her personal frustration at never having an opportunity to see what the jeans she was purchasing looked like until she stood on her tip-toes in the fitting room mirror & then spent $50.00 or more having them custom tailored to her specifications. Given the demographics, she was astounded that something hadn’t been done before… so she set out to make that not be the case.
The collection now has some 10 different fits in jeans alone that take into account the customer’s desire to chose their rise, fabric type, fit proportions, & color/wash of denim. This new capsule layers perfectly into the mix to begin Nelle Atelier’s journey for what most certainly lies just over the fashion horizon… a full collection under the label.
The Phillip Slit Pant retailing for $218 is billed as a “closet staple” that features a split hem detail that is not only fashionable & novel, but tricks the eye into viewing the wearer’s leg as longer than it really is. The split hem also allows it to pair beautifully with any shoe from flats to stilettos making this pant the go-to for morning, day, or night.
The Gad Jacket, retailing at $288 is called the perfect “lady” jacket. Cropped to land just at the hip & with novel silver buttons, this piece is equal parts classic & modern, evoking a distinct vintage vibe to any outfit.
Finally, the Zack Trouser, $248, boasts a definitively more man-tailored, oversized feel that can find a place in the boardroom or bar when styled for the occasion – day or night.
