Agentry PR was as usual, the force behind putting together New York Mens Day (NYMD), which is in its 23rd season. This sort of longevity in fashion land is something that few organizations can lay claim to. Furthermore, NYMD may be the only event in the last few seasons that creates a convenient, centralized location for us to efficiently view the collections, by merely moving from room to room in the spacious Location05 in the trendy Hudson Yards District to another, it was possible to view three collections in the period of only an hour, which, under the way the rest of NYFW has disintegrated over the past few seasons, is an impossibility. Thank you, Agentry PR!
HOLD NYC: Fall Winter 2025:
Designer Holden Akerley had après ski on his mind this season. Handsome models lounged about the show space in various stages of undress. A show stopping look was a model reclining on a futon in a Baby Blue sleeping bag like parka after a busy day snowboarding wearing a white, HOLD logo emblazoned jock strap. The rest of the models wore Blue Lycra leggings you’d see on speed skaters & heftier trouser leggings that were as substantial as riding jodhpurs.
Another standout look was form fitting Yellow & Gray turtleneck embellished with Bright Yellow beads on the chest paired with comfy Gray flared sweatpants. There were also dressier options such as a Deep Blue nylon sateen sleeveless top & trouser, as well as plaid trousers, shorts, jackets & cummerbunds with thick Black straps that only needed a Lycra tee to make them suitable to venture down to the lodge for some espresso martinis to finish out the day & start the night…
Lastly, we’d be remiss not to mention the fun man bags, particularly the leather one in Periwinkle Blue that resembled a jock strap which was accessible via a zipper where the fly would normally be… fetishy, yes… striking… bigger yes, but saleable… that remains to be seen. Overall, this collection had plenty of to love & may just have a place.
