Tenniscore: Taking Points from Zendaya on the ‘Challengers’ Press Tour

1.3K Views April 14, 2024

Tenniscore is a trend that is just about as evergreen as a can of tennis balls. It seems as though we crack open a can of pleats, clean whites, and sharp stripes every spring season. Thanks to the stylings of Law Roach for Zendaya’s press tour for Challengers, in theaters April 26, we are getting served up inspiration to dictate our own styling choices as sunnier weather approaches. The tour de force that is the combination of Roach and Zendaya has been feeding us looks all year. The jaw-dropping archived Thierry Mugler look at the ‘Dune: Part Two’ premiere broke the red carpet internet in February, and Roach has continued to step up the game – literally – outfitting Zendaya and the most thematically appealing sporty looks across the ‘Challengers’ press tour.

She kicked off the tour wearing a sparkling custom Loewe gown featuring the silhouette of a player giving a striking serve to the Sydney Premiere on March 26.

In Paris, she wore a 1999 Louis Vuitton by Marc Jacobs in tennis ball green on April 6. On the 10th, she donned a retro 2013 Marc Jacobs checkered shift.

In Rome, she wore a plunging, glittery silver custom Loewe drop waist pleated dress. To pair, her heels featured tennis balls. “Tennis but make it FASHION…” Roach wrote on Instagram.

This week, she wore a classically Thom Browne piece, covered in sequins, and complete with tennis racket motifs.

Here are some pieces to put the growing trend in practice:

1. Behno Pouchette: Yes, it is tennis ball green. Yes, you need it. $225.00 @ www.behno.com

2. Staud Dress: Staud’s take on the classic tennis dress is just understated enough to be an item you can wear both on and off the court. $245.00 @ www.staud.com

3. Brunello Cucinelli Tote: For those a bit more serious about their athletic pursuits. $2,195.00 @ www.brunellocucinelli.com

4. Suzie Kondi Vest: What’s a tennis look without a sweater vest? This one is in cashmere. $495.00 @ www.suziekondi.com

5. Aliita Tennis Bracelet (literally): Self explanatory. And so very cute. $180.00 @ www.mytheresa.com

6. Swarovski Matrix Tennis Bracelet: Classic, chic, simple… love! $229.00 @ www.swarovski.com

7. Marysia Skirt: The scalloped edges – which by the way, are reemerging as a microtrend, make this skirt a great find. $124.00 @ www.mytheresa.com

8. Adidas Sambas: They’ve been around forever & always look fresh as the day they were introduced. $141.00 @ www.farfetch.com

9. Sporty & Rich Polo: It’s club everyone can join. $145.00 @ www.farfetch.com

10. Casablanca Tennis Club Ring: The perfect old school accent piece. $124.00 @ www.farfetch.com

11. Rough Hat: What were you doing in 1988? $71.00 @ www.farfetch.com

12. Miu Miu Shades: Prada’s baby sister is every bit as covetable. $530.00 @ www.farfetch.com

13. Naomi Nomi Silk Scarf: Looks like a cutting board, but reminds us of a tennis court… You decide… $78.00 @ www.naominomi.com

14. Thom Browne Skirt: Inspired by the perfection that was Zendaya’s custom Thom Browne look at the London premiere this week. $1.090.00 @ www.mytheresa.com
