There is a difference between making something impressive from secondhand clothes & making clothes whose origins become part of a compelling design story. With New Journeys Through Old Memories, Evan Hirsch moved further into the second category. His Spring/Summer 2027 runway show, the third collection created with ShopGoodwill.com, had the inventiveness his audience expects, but this time the looks felt more elegantly merchandised & more fully resolved.
Everything began with garments & vintage finds sourced through ShopGoodwill.com’s online auction platform. Hirsch worked with lace, beading, metallic fabrics & other materials that arrived with previous lives attached. The collection’s title suggests nostalgia, but the strongest pieces did more than recall another era. They gave familiar eveningwear references a new shape & a reason to be seen again.
A Royal Blue one-shoulder dress was among the show’s most persuasive looks. Its floral pattern brought energy to the fabric, while asymmetrical layers fell from a short hem into longer, fluid lengths. There was plenty happening, yet the eye could follow the line of the dress. Hirsch let the existing material contribute its color & character, then used the cut to make it his own.
A Smoke Gray gown made a different argument for restraint. Its smooth, sleeveless upper half led into a dense band of Ostrich feathers at the midriff before returning to a narrow, softly draped skirt. The change in texture supplied the drama without overwhelming the silhouette. Elsewhere, a tiered gown moved from Champagne at the bodice toward Black at the hem, its beaded waist, feathered neckline & darkening layers giving the look a gradual, satisfying progression.
These pieces showed how much more comfortable Hirsch has become with upcycling. Earlier work could occasionally reveal the strain of bringing disparate parts together; here, the transformations appeared more natural. The collection felt cohesive across different colors, textures & levels of formality. Even when a look was elaborate, its components seemed to belong to the same idea.
Hirsch also revisited the convertible fashions that first helped bring him a viral audience. Those pieces remain part of his design vocabulary, but their transformations felt subtler this season. The change mattered. Rather than asking the audience to admire the mechanism, he allowed it to serve the garment. It suggests a designer developing judgment alongside technical skill, learning when an idea has been pushed far enough.
That growth gave the partnership a stronger fashion argument. The collaboration also connects donated goods to the broader Goodwill mission. On the runway, though, the clothes needed to succeed on their own terms, & many did. The room responded accordingly. Celebrities, fashion media, influencers & Hirsch’s devoted fans filled the audience, which broke into cheers & applause when he came out for his final bow. Enthusiasm has never been in short supply at an Evan Hirsch show. What felt different this season was how clearly the collection earned it.
New Journeys Through Old Memories still had Hirsch’s taste for transformation & spectacle. It also showed a firmer hand in editing those impulses into finished fashion.
