The American Apparel & Footwear Association is celebrating a major milestone. This spring, AAFA will mark the 50th anniversary of the American Image Awards, returning to New York City on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, with a slate of honorees that reflects the full ecosystem behind fashion today, from design and innovation to sustainability, brand leadership, and global manufacturing.
Long regarded as one of the industry’s most insider-facing honors, the American Image Awards spotlight the partnerships and leadership that keep fashion moving forward. This year’s anniversary edition brings together designers, brands, technologists, and changemakers whose work shapes how the world gets dressed every day.
The 2026 American Image Awards Honorees
Company of the Year: Fabletics
Accepted by Adam Goldenberg, Co-Founder and CEO
Founded in 2013, Fabletics has grown into the world’s largest digitally native activewear brand, redefining the category through a blend of style-forward design, technology, and accessibility. Designer of the Year: Zac Posen

Zac Posen’s career has spanned couture, ready-to-wear, uniforms, costume design, and now large-scale American retail. In his current roles at Gap Inc. and Old Navy, Posen brings a designer’s eye and cultural fluency to one of the largest apparel platforms in the world. Known for his technical mastery and body-positive approach, his work bridges creativity and commerce, proving that thoughtful design can resonate at scale while shaping modern American style.
Global Innovator: Avery Dennison

For nearly a century, Avery Dennison has helped shape the infrastructure behind fashion. From pioneering RFID and digital identification technologies to exploring the future of data-driven supply chains, the company continues to push innovation that improves transparency, efficiency, and value across the apparel industry. Under Bill Toney’s leadership, Avery Dennison’s advanced technology initiatives are accelerating intelligent labeling while exploring how emerging technologies like AI and sensor fusion will define the next chapter of retail and manufacturing.
Fashion Maverick: Timberland
Accepted by Nina Flood, Global Brand President
Rooted in outdoor heritage and cultural relevance, Timberland has spent more than five decades balancing function, fashion, and authenticity. Since joining as global brand president in 2023, Nina Flood has helped steer the brand into a new era, strengthening emotional connection with consumers while amplifying Timberland’s presence across fashion and culture. Recent collaborations with Jacquemus and Telfar, alongside a standout Met Gala moment worn by actress My’hala, underscore the brand’s ability to move seamlessly between the runway, the street, and the trail.
Eco-Steward of the Year: AFIRM Group

Founded in 2004, AFIRM is a global coalition of apparel and footwear companies committed to reducing the use and impact of harmful substances throughout the supply chain. As Director, Nathaniel Sponsler has spent a decade helping guide collaborative initiatives that advance chemical management, testing standards, and product safety across the industry. AFIRM’s work continues to play a critical role in aligning sustainability goals with practical, scalable solutions.
Trailblazer Award: BBC International
Co-recipients Seth Campbell, Corporate President, and Josue Solano, CEO
Celebrating its own 50-year legacy, BBC International has built a global footwear business defined by innovation, licensing expertise, and operational excellence. Founded in 1975, the company has evolved into a multi-category powerhouse spanning entertainment, lifestyle, athletic, and luxury brands. Under Campbell and Solano’s leadership, BBC’s world-class design, sourcing, and global distribution platform supports partnerships with brands including Off-White™, Polo Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, and more, while its owned labels continue to expand the company’s creative footprint.
Icon Award: Ruben Toledo
World-renowned artist Ruben Toledo will receive the American Image Awards’ Icon Award, honoring a creative legacy shaped alongside his late wife and collaborator, Isabel Toledo. Together, the Toledos conceived the American Image Awards statuette, a sculptural, seven-metal work symbolizing global unity that has become one of fashion’s most meaningful honors. The award recognizes Ruben’s enduring influence across art and fashion while honoring the spirit and vision that Isabel brought to the industry and to the Awards themselves.
Hosted by Alina Cho
The evening will be emceed by Alina Cho, Emmy Award-winning journalist and longtime fashion authority. A contributor to CBS Sunday Morning, producer of the Netflix documentary Martha, and host of The Atelier with Alina Choat The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Cho brings a sharp, thoughtful voice to conversations at the intersection of fashion, culture, and storytelling. She is also the recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and the 2023 CFDA Media Award.
The 2026 American Image Awards will take place at Gotham Hall in New York City, with the CFDA Foundationonce again serving as the event’s charitable beneficiary.
As AAFA President and CEO Steve Lamar noted, the anniversary year is both a reflection and a forward-looking moment for the industry, recognizing the leaders and collaborators who continue to shape fashion’s future.
