Growing up in a coastal New England town, my summers have been long marked by two of my favorite things: fashion, and, of course, seafood dishes; lobster rolls at the beach, summer sushi, raw bar oysters, clambakes, tuna salad sandwiches, and more. Each dish pairs quite well with a coastal summer outfit, I might add.
When I heard Fishwife and Lisa Says Gah! are collaborating this summer to launch an “Aperitivo by the Sea Collection”, my excitement could not be quelled.
The collection, now live, includes a “Sardine Tee”, complete with artwork of tinned sardines (on eco fabric, not to mention), nail art stickers that feature tiny tinned fish (naturally), a bracelet and necklace strung with little silver plated fish, and a three-pack of Fishwife’s tinned smoked salmon, complete with limited edition packaging.
I’m likely no the only one excited by this fashion/fish-fusion. Tinned fish is having a massive yet unexpected moment as arguably the trendiest food of the season.
Simply search “tinned fish” on Pinterest, and you’ll see what I mean. Many are creating art, recipes, and even accessories that incorporate tinned sea delicacies. This collab marries two of the best things about summer for a perhaps once unlikely, yet genius pairing.
Fishwife is an emerging female-founded food company aiming to make ethically-sourced and delicious tinned seafood a home kitchen staple, (which happens to also have really cute branding), and Lisa Says Gah! is a self-proclaimed “anti-shop kind of shop”, or clothing brand best known for its delightfully culinary-inspired clothing pieces.
The collection is available for a limited time and will be sold on both Fishwife and Lisa Says Gah! websites.
