Few things intrigue my eye more than an iconic basic being updated. That’s just what happened when an e-mail landed in my inbox proclaiming, under the headline of “Braking News /// Capsule Collection de Bob” had been created (the “de” & the the misspelling of “Braking” being clues that this news was coming from afar, or that an intern was in serious in trouble!). I was not only charmed, but also intrigued…
Then, imagine my joy when I opened the e-mail to find this charming array of 14 bucket hats created under the Benoit Missolin label in collaboration with the Olivades fabric mill, located in the St. Etienne du Grès region of France. The mill has been manufacturing & printing this fabric in a variety of colors, patterns & finishes since 1818. The designer has an affinity for the textiles as he grew up with the fabric as part of his childhood wardrobe.
If you are wondering, like I was, what any of this has to do with “Bob”, as called out in the headline, it wasn’t clear until I visited the website… “Bob” is the style name. Can this hat get any cooler? These hats are too cute for words & we are going to run out & buy one (or 3!) as soon as we finish typing this post.
Where can you get one? Worry not, the full range can be purchased at BenoitMissolin.com for a quoted price range of 91 to 132 euros… or you can get an assortment of 9 for 950 euros (pictured below). The site points out that there may be some unknown shipping & duty charges on top of the list price, not to mention a conversion rate factor involved. Go ahead… think how envious your friends will be if you show up every day on the beach in a new pattern…
