Over the last year & a half, it would be impossible to say that we’ve not heard more than once stories about feeling more in touch with what’s important in life. From spending more time nesting or focusing on that seemingly endless reading or watch list that we all had pre-pandemic or just spending quality time with family 7 nights a week versus a quick moment here or there when our lives were all about rushing from home to office to school to bed to do it all over again – we all have more than many feelings along these lines. It could be said that the events of the last year & a half have left us forever changed &, tragic societal loss aside, most would argue that we are better off for having been forced to slow down & become, well… more grounded in what’s important.
In fact, there is an entire movement in health & wellness circles focused on the principles around “grounding”… it’s been growing in earnest over the last 20+ years in health & wellness circles. Much of the focus has had to do with going barefoot to literally connect us to the ground beneath our feet. However, Sharon Whiteley realized the impracticality of everyone going barefoot in their daily routines, so she set out to create a line of shoes that uses proprietary insoles & linings infused with several proprietary technologies to literally ground the wearer to the earth below their feet while looking every bit as fashionable as their non-grounded counterparts.
Each pair of Harmony 783 shoes incorporates such technologies as a patent pending Groundworks™ technology combined with a variety of silver infused layers to promote natural conductivity with the planet, as well as bio-friendly algae-based EVA by BLOOM midsoles, before being finished with a carbon & rubber outsole with trampoline heel for stability with each step the wearer takes.
The most incredible part is that all of this technology & grounding activity is taking place without sacrificing a single stitch of fashion factor. So many shoes in the comfort or natural categories achieve their theraputive goals at the near complete sacrifice of any fashion factor whatsoever. Not Harmony 783!
I for one & quite excited to try them & with a range of options for women from ballet flats & walkers & men’s styles that include drivers, joggers & walkers as well (I wish I’d had a pair of those drivers for my 8 hour drive yesterday!), there’s style for nearly every activity you encounter in our soon to be more busy days.
We suspect that this is one of the many answers that fashion will have in response to the world we found ourselves in over the past year… let’s hope that the other answers are just as fashionable as Ms. Whiteley’s Harmony 783 collection.
