We see a lot of fashion here at TheFashionList.com. It takes a lot to get us genuinely fashion-excited. When we opened a recent e-mail from Heirloom Amalgam… well, we were beyond excited… “obsessed” would be the more appropriate descriptive. Several years ago, we were equally smitten by another high-quality basics company NüHü, but sadly, they didn’t make it. We literally wore our NüHü pieces until they were thread-bare & no longer able to be called garments! Heirloom Amalgam to the rescue!
New York City based husband & wife design duo Amy & Scott Burr have been curating vintage pieces for their personal collection for over 10 years. Scott, the Creative Director of Heirloom Amalgam, says he has always placed an emphasis on the historical context & has been drawn to the intense details that define each garment in their vintage collection. He says that in these intense destails can be found the “why” they exist. With this laser focus on detail, & their interest in the versatility of their vintage pieces in mind, the duo launched Heirloom Amalgam. The brand is infused with the same focus to details that they put into their vintage collection. These core, time-tested, vintage classics inspire their design process.
The designs from Heirloom Amalgam are for work & the weekend, the city & the country, for action & for downtown. They claim that versatility reigns supreme at Heirloom Amalgam & that the collection is comprised of “investment pieces that are meant for full year round wear, year after year. Built with love and made to last.”
The pieces that caught our eye here at TheFashionList were the sweat styles. Each had just enough of a twist to move them left of center without losing the grounding that causes designer sweats to move into trend, thus seriously shortening their shelf-life. These pieces will indeed be in your closet for years to come & not simply collecting dust. In fact, we bet you’ll need to buy them again because you’ve simply worn them out before you ever think of moving on to another style to replace them.
