INline: NYNNE Fall 2022

NYNNE Fall 2022 Collection

Copenhagen based design house NYNNE showed their Fall 2022 collection this week on a dark, moody, mysterious runway that had all the makings of a horror film with something evil lurking just out of site. However, there was nothing scary about the clothes, in fact, the designs were so bright & inspired, they made you completely forget about the darkness of the setting. The proportions of the NYNNE collection, like the show setting itself, could easy be read as off-putting & frumpy, but upon closer inspection, any misgivings of negativity were realized to be just that… a misgiving. This collection was truly covetable & special in every way imaginable.

The collection was said to be created around the idea of the optimal wardrobe for the cosmopolitan woman. Silhouette is clearly key for NYNNE & has been part of the brand’s signature since the beginning. Therefore, according to the design statement, the silhouette was the genesis (aka: starting point) for this collection. The brand statement asserts that NYNNE is about not only working to empower women to feel great about themselves, but also about the choices they make in life. Adding new volumes & seam lines to key wardrobe pieces has allowed the brand to update some of its time tested classics & in many cases lending a multifunctional aspect to many of the pieces. The pieces are designed to be mixed & matched for different occasions & allow the wearer to find her own expression points within the brand’s full range of offerings.

Some of the stand-out pieces included the jumpsuits with low back & rusching details, as well as some of the skirts & dresses that have an artisanal feel to them with heavy handed draped details & pleats. Textures of all sorts & denim are key elements for the season. with the new wide jeans, accentuated by box pleats & a voluminous oversize coat being one of the most memorable all around silhouettes.

Should you ever find yourself in Copenhagen, or any number of retailers in the European market that carry NYNNE, it’s definitely worth the time to explore this collection. The scale & proportions make this a natural for women of all ages who may not have the most traditionally celebrated modelesque physiques. These silhouettes are easy digestible & given the quality of fabrics, are quite forgiving.

The inspiration for NYNNE’s Fall 2022 collection may have been Film Noir, but the only thing dark about this collection is the setting. There are bright spots in every look & the future of NYNNE is quite a bright one.
