A Guide to Holiday Wear: Skipping the Stress

592 Views January 6, 2025

As the holiday season comes to an end & the rush to get presents, vacations, & donneres in order is finally over, it’s a good time to reflect on our holiday wardrobes. After presents are wrapped, hotels are booked, & meals are made, there’s still one more thing to consider: our outfits. On top of an already long to-do list, preparing a festive outfit can be overwhelming, but finding the right outfit can be easy.

First, choose a color that works for you. Whether it’s the classic red or green, the grounding black or white, or even lively blue, the best thing about the holiday season is that there is a broad color palette to work with. Though not as versatile as your everyday wardrobe, it’s diverse enough for many options.

Finding the right color for your outfit — or the event itself — can go a long way to easing any anxiety or time crunch you may have.

Once you’ve chosen a color, start building your outfit. Red or green can provide a bold, traditional look. Possibly consider using one of these colors as an accent — for example, a nice shoe, hair accessory, or purse.

If you’re featuring red or green as the center-color, steadying the outfit with staple pieces like denim pants or classic bottoms can balance the outfit. For a more formal aesthetic, black or white accessories or clothing pieces can bring together the red or green-focused moment.

Timeless & flexible, black or white can be paired with gold or silver statement pieces, such as jewelry. You can also pair the versatile colors with blues, reds, or greens.

Blue is both fun & effortless. This color works well with white, black, silver, or gold. Layering different pieces in blue can make a unique & distinctive look.

Now, bringing it all together are statement pieces &/or accessories. Statement pieces like patterned or colored stockings can give your outfit dimension & depth — developing a well-rounded chic outfit.

If you want to add warmth & style, leg warmers are a good option. They elevate your outfit’s dimension with different textures, colors, &/or patterns.

Piece everything together with the right handbag &/or hair accessory. A bow or decorative hair clip can go a long way. If you’re unsure about having too little or not much color, a bag or accessory can be that well-needed final touch.

In this reflection & guide for the new year, planning ahead & positioning yourself for success throughout the holiday season can be made simple — helping you create festive yet practical outfits with confidence.
